2 videos tt inspired me last night.

I'm humming odd time signature riffs for most of the time now, but it's tricky cos most of them gets forgotten. I dun have guitar pro to document everything as i walk/bathe/shit.

Sting's song is quite a beauty. 5/4 is the new swing. Check out Dave Brubeck's Take Five as well. 5/4 is so natural sounding if done right. It doesnt even deserved to be called odd time.

Anyways check out my irritating soundclick app at the side. Blasts "You Wanna Be A Star" whenever u visit my page. How cool is that? Come to a rocker's blog, listen to rock, watch rock videos, and read rock. Complete package at Chang's. We give you the whole deal!

Alright i have to do my work. Tho i have tons to say right now. Maybe they will go away.

Hmm.

This is the current scoreline:
Mom - 2 months+

Shirui - 1 day

Audrey - 2 days

Nicholas - 2 weeks

Maybe my mom's right. Maybe it's not that easy after all. Maybe it's the final straw for her already. As a son, can you not understand that? The figures are glaring.

Moral of the story: If u dun have ur own pad, dun make any big decisions on your own. Cos u really can't afford it.

Anyways, Nic already has done all he can to help. I know he had. He's a real friend. After 5 yrs of limited contact, he's still willing to help. No questions asked. Where do you find someone like tt?

Tt's also the reason y i remember his phone number. If i remember your phone number by heart, you are a true friend.

Thank you Nic. I shan't bother your family anymore. Thanks for this 2 weeks.

Went for the jam on Sat. As expected, none of the drummers can play to my expectations. The keyboardist can't really play without her score, and even so, her score is like half of the song only. Bassist is not bad, can play, but can't really hear her. Fortunately Hanes is ard to salvage some keyboard parts.

And i think Johnson is a pretty decents singer now. If i have a band i wun mind him fronting. Still off-key once in a while, but otherwise pretty rCok.

Anyways, for any drummer to get into my good books, all they have to do is really just be able to play the stipulated songs the way they should be done. Rests at the right places, correct rhythms and a constant beat tt would be enough. How you want to fill in, is not my problem. How hard you want to hit, is also not my problem.

So Dorisa satisfied the 1st 2 criterion, while Jason satisfied the last one. Ben, my friend, is someone whom can do all 3. And he's just a normal guy who plays the drums alittle on the soft side. But it's something tt my brother and HY cannot take it. Which i cannot understand y. Feel can come in later, work on the rhythm first. What's the point of playing to haphazard drums, or drums tt goes on like a drum machine?

If the drummer can alter the rhythm in a very meaningful way tt doesnt diminish the main riff, by all means go ahead and try a remix or smthing. Otherwise, pls stick to the score.

This goes out to all aspiring drummers out there.

After tt jam, it further confirmed my belief tt most 8th grade pianists are incapable of jamming with a band. Cos they can't improvise, they can't appreciate the keyboard and it's sounds, and they have to stick to a score. Which leads me to wonder, grade 5 theory is not enough to empower a musician to be creative. What gives?

Personally i think theory makes the musician more creative, and i think i wun pass grade 1 theory probably. Guitar theory > piano theory? Or is there a difference in the first place? I think theory helps alot, in terms of giving ideas for chords, progressions, scales for soloing, inversions to break out of the usual chords, and so on.

So if u are a musician, work on theory as well. Technique gets u that far only.

Anyways apologies for all the music talk. I know people tend to scroll thru that. So that's a fuck u for u :)

Sch's weird so far. No tutorials to ballot for. No tutorials to do. I'm missing the rush tt comes with every sem.

Hmm.

This sem, i'm taking:
ST4238 Stochastic Processes II
ST4240 Data Mining
ST4242 Longitudinal Data Analysis
ST4245 Statistical Methods for Finance
ES2007 Professional Communication
Overall, this sem looks to be very trying. Some pple said tt i'm crazy taking 4 lvl 4000 modules. But i'm like, if u dun take now, then wait until honours year then you suffer? Along with ur project? Tt's too much of a risk isnt it. Worse come to worse, i flunk this sem, then i just grad with a merit lor.
Really, nothing can put me down anymore. I'm close to the lowest point.
Johnson's pretty nice to invite me to jam with his grp of rocker chick friends, whom also happened to be in OMS. Chicks or not, i've yet to see, but i choose to be optimistic. Anyways this gives me some purpose to learn some easy songs and practise them real hard so i can impress said chicks on saturday.
I cannot comprehend the purpose of the jam, but i shan't think so much. Tt's one of my new year resolution, which is to stop being so uptight. Just go along with the flow.
Songs to be jammed are:
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
Coldplay - Yellow
Radiohead - Creep
Switchfoot - Dare You To Move
Nice popular hits, nothing too heavy, nothing too shreddy.
Good.

My friend, Gang Lin's band

http://www.myspace.com/thebandteal

He's the bass player btw.

As i've always said, the band sounds good as long as u have a good singer. Everyone else can just be average or beginner level, as long as they can keep time.

A lousy singer is like a instrument tt cannot keep in tune. Nobody plays an instrument tt can't keep in tune. Nobody wants a singer tt cannot sing in tune. The logic is bloody simple.

Enjoy.

Usually i dun blog abt the big problems in my life, cos i find it unnecessary to bother other pple with my own issues. It's also to not make my blog a place to seek sympathy, or whatever. It's just not my style.
Shit hit the roof today, but i think i'm handling it quite well. Optimism is key i believe.
I read once tt someone managed to will himself to death. If tt's possible, it's even more possible to will yourself to live.
Anyways, eat healthy, live healthy and exercise. It doesnt guarantee immortality, but at least it's a worthy shot.
On my part, i will try to sleep early. The only problem with this is tt it's so much lonelier in the morning than in the night, unless i have class or work. Well class is starting soon, maybe i can work ard it.
And yea, this sem's bidding sucks. Pffft.
Wish me luck.
