Just back from the Beyond concert with Kai, Guan, Si Chao, Cheng Da and Zheng Han. It's good to see them live, after repeatedly listening to their Live & Basic album for all these years. Good stuff i'd say, belting out hits after hits, which i gladly sang along to. Some of the songs i've nv heard before but it's still good. Apparently they did not cash in on the sad fact tt the lead singer died 10+ yrs ago, which i think deserves respect. Imagine if every concert u have to cry, it will seem pretty fake. But of course, there will be one song for tt fella everytime, and a little memorial session for him. But tt's it. Tastefully done i'd say.
I guess the only gripe abt the whole thing is tt the lead guitarist did not play most of the lead parts and solo. Probably because he had to sing some songs, but then cmon... u're supposed to be the shredder here! I pay to watch u, and u have to let ur sessionist shred. K la he's really good la, way better than u, but he looks like a cock la. And the band's not really tight, some off notes here and there, shldnt be the case for a professional band. Maybe the general crowd wun notice, but me, Kai and Guan sure did.
Sound wasn't very good also, couldn't hear the lead guitarist very well, the keyboards are covering up the sound too much. And it's too trebly also. I think the sound man could have done a better job. Same goes for the band too.
Overall, i feel the $130 was well spent. I willingly paid for the hype, and i paid for the music. And of course i paid to see the legends. After all this could well be the last time they are gonna perform here in Singapore. Or maybe the last time they're ever gonna perform. Now tt i've watched them, at least i wun regret 20 yrs down the road.
Worth every single cent.
Little sore throat from over singing though. Heh.
