Song update: Just uploaded a new version of "Standstill" TRIED to sing better this time, shld be much better compared to the previous version, though i think i can do better with a vocal coach or smthing. Almost everything else has improved: Better drum sounds, better guitar tone (used the Route 66 on this track! OD sweetness), added bassline, vocal harmony (bleah) and so on. Listen for urselves:
Standstill <--- KLIK
Exams are over already, and i think it shld be decent this time round. Shan't hope for too much though, cos Guan Yin Ma hasnt shone much light on me recently. Holiday is the time for me to catch up on guitar and running. Been waking up at 8 in the morning for the past 2 days to run and bask in the morning sun. Quite crazy, especially when every other person in the park is either an ah pek or ah ma. I'm like the super odd one out. But it's ok, wake up early, then can take afternoon nap. Afternoon naps are shiokest to the maximus.
Guitar-wise, just strung my dear Strat with Curt Mangans. I'd say the feel of the strings is quite good, very smooth and light. Tone wise it matches up to DRs, so i'd say it's a bang for the buck at 5.50 only. We'll see how long this set of strings can last. Btw "Standstill" is recorded with Curt Mangans thru a Route 66 on virtually no gain, and thru the Cube with the Black Panel setting at half gain and half volume. Sounds pretty sweet and analog to me. This is how OD shld sound ain't it?
Talking about strings, I tried a new way of stringing the guitar which is very unorthodox, but works (amazingly!) Yup, dun say got good things i never share ar. Essentially, just string thru the bridge first, then pull it taut all the way up the neck. Now, instead of going thru the hole of the string post, what i did was to take the string (rem to hold it taut) and wrap it 3 times around the string post. And then i put the end of the string thru the string post and pull it taut. This ensures tt the string wraps are nicely layered on each other, and there is no hassle of having to turn the tuners at all. Remember though, as u wrap, u have to keep tugging the string to make sure the wraps are tight.
Yup tt's a very shoddy literal description of what i did, but yea, try to figure out for urself. There was a vid somewhere in Ultimate-Guitar.com where i learnt this from. Do a search or smthing lazy bums!
Movies to catch: Battle of Wits, Saw 3, Tenacious D Pick of Destiny :D:D:D, Flags of Our Fathers(still contemplating).
And if u are wondering whether u shld catch Tenacious D, just watch this:
